MANILA – Boracay Island is opening its doors to tourists of all ages from areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ and the National Capital Region (NCR).
This move has been cleared with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), according to the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6.
DOT-6, however, said NCR tourists above 65 years old, those with immunodeficiencies, comorbidities and other health risks, or pregnant must be fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
As for the documentary requirements, non-Aklanon tourists must present negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results – either swab or saliva test – with a 72-hour validity.
Tourists must also present a booking confirmation from a DOT-accredited accommodation establishment and a Philippine government issued identification card as proof of residence.
Also needed are travel details such as mode of travel (air, sea or land), place of origin and arrival date and S-Pass Travel Coordination Permit that can be downloaded from https://s-pass.ph/.
Boracay visitors also need an accomplished health declaration card through www.touristboracay.com. The tourist must supply the required information and a copy of the health card with a quick response (QR) code will be sent back through e-mail.
“The QR Code must be downloaded by the tourist and be presented and scanned at the ports of entry,” the DOT-6 said.
Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan already opened its doors for local tourism from areas under MGCQ and general community quarantine last year with a relaxed age restriction.
Boracay tourists should also wear anti-virus masks “all the time” and remove them when swimming. Visitors were also advised to observe physical distancing./PN
