SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Tourism (DOT) in Western Visayas lauded the collective participation of Antiqueños for the successful celebration of “Tiringbanay Festival” in this capital town.
“With Tiringbanay Festival, the people are united despite differences in political parties and beliefs,” DOT regional supervising tourism officer Sedfrey Cabaluna said during the festival’s opening on April 28.
Cabaluna said Antique is a rising star in Western Visayas in terms of tourism with best beaches, mountains, cultural heritage, and its huge potential in human resources.
“As local tourists visiting other provinces in the region, we are making our tourism industry become stable and helping the local economy grow,” he said.
DOT has been strengthening its campaign dubbed as “Experience Western Visayas First” to boost the tourism industry of the provinces in Region 6.
San Jose Mayor Elmer Untaran meanwhile declared the opening of the event where residents, local officials, national agencies joined the parade held at the town’s major thoroughfares.
Tiringbanay Festival is an annual event in the town of San Jose de Buenavista where locals commemorate the town’s history and honor their patron saint, St. Joseph the Worker. (With a report from PIA/PN)
