DOTr bids P59.6-M consultancy contract for Kalibo airport dev’t

KALIBO, Aklan – Two interested consultants – Schema Consult, Inc. and Urban Integrated Consultants – submitted their eligibility documents for the multi-million Consultancy Services for Kalibo International Airport development.

On September 26, 2024, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) conducted the opening of eligibility documents for the Detailed Engineering Design Study of the airport.

DOTr has allocated P59,650,560 of its 2024 budget for the contract under Project ID No. CBAC-AIR-CS-2024-01.

The prospective bidders were short listed to submit their bids based on applicable experience of the company, qualification of key personnel assigned to the project and job capacity.

The agency will evaluate the bids using the Quality Cost Based Evaluation / Selection. The winning bidder should complete the contract within 365 calendar days or 12 months from the Notice to Proceed.

On September 5, 2024, DOTr also conducted pre-bid conference for the consulting services for the airport designs.

DOTr secretary Jaime Bautista said the agency has been pushing for the redevelopment of Kalibo International Airport to serve regional flights with bigger aircrafts.

With the growing demands of air travel, DOTr has emphasized the importance of Kalibo International Airport to boost tourism and economy in the region.

The transport chief stressed other regional airports for modernization in the pipeline are Iloilo International Airport, Laguindingan Airport, Puerto Princesa International Airport and Bohol-Panglao International Airport./PN
