DEPARTMENT of Transportation (DOTr) secretary Jaime Bautista announced some chairs will be removed at the arrival hall of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 to ease congestion in the area.

During his inspection of NAIA 3 in time for the Holy Week influx of passengers, Bautista said many people were sitting on the chairs at the arrival area. He said some are not even passengers or waiting for passengers. He added that some may actually be scammers waiting to victimize arriving passengers in various ways.

Sa arrival, babawasan mga silya doon sa terminal 3. Maraming nakaupo lang naka-standby, iba dyan naghihintay na magkaroon ng scam,” said Bautista.

He also advised those with big families to welcome their arriving loved ones at home, rather than at the airport. This is to avoid congestion at the arrivals hall and even the parking area.

Kung pwede ‘wag masyadong marami sumusundo. Normally isang tao susunduin pero 10 family members sumusundo, minsan isa o dalawang sasakyan dala nila. Hintayin na lang sa bahay,” he added.

Bautista meanwhile said he is happy with the process at NAIA, saying the situation has been normal at the airport. He also urged the public not to discuss the pest control issue anymore, adding that it has been resolved.

Mayroon tayong regular pest control everyday,” the DOTr chief said. (ABS-CBN News)
