PAMPANGA – Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on Friday turned over the operation and maintenance of the Clark International Airport to Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD) in a formal ceremony.

LIPAD promised improvements for the airport, including four new international flight routes and opening of food and beverage outlets.

“We’re also trying to reduce the queues in the terminal. We are trying to work out with the airline operators if we can embed the terminal fees in the ticket, so that will prevent the queue, you don’t have to queue again,” said Bi Yong Chingunco, chief executive officer of LIPAD.

Tugade admitted that the turnover will affect current employees of the airport. However, he said affected employees will be properly compensated.

Under the government’s private-public partnership project, LIPAD will handle operations and maintenance of the airport for 25 years. (ABS-CBN News)
