BACOLOD City – The city council here recently passed a resolution requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DWPH)-Bacolod Engineering District to speed up road works in the metro.
According to Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., author of the resolution, road constructions and repairs along the Circumferential Road near the New Government Center and Barangay Cabug circumferential intersection are causing congestion, thus compromising the safety of motorists.
Gamboa also urged DWPH to install reflectorized warning signs at construction sites.
In a related development, DPWH reshuffled its district engineers here and in the city of Talisay, Negros Occidental.
Jaime Javellana was reassigned as the new district engineer of DPWH-Bacolod.
Abraham Villareal, on the other hand, was transferred to the DPWH-Talisay First Engineering District.
Assistant District Engineer Leah Jamero, DPWH-Bacolod public information officer, said the reshuffling will not hamper the implementation of the agency’s ongoing projects./PN
