BORACAY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Aklan is working double time to finish its Phase II road improvement and rehabilitation in this world-famous island.

The road rehab project is aimed to improve Boracay’s drainage systems and paved walkways.

Engineer Fritz Ruiz, chief of DPWH-Aklan Planning and Design Section, said the 1.9-kilometer Phase II Section 3 road project is now 8 percent complete.

According to Ruiz, they will use high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic pipes for the new drainage systems.

DPWH’s timetable to complete the Phase II road rehabilitation is set on June 2020 but they are targeting to finish it by end of 2019.

Construction works in Phase II from Crossing Rotunda to Tambisaan port are also ongoing which involve the laying of 210 reinforced concrete pipes for base preparation. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
