DPWH monitors safety of nat’l roads, public buildings

SAN JOSE, Antique – To ensure the safety of structures for public use, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) monitored roads, bridges and buildings in the province.

Its maintenance section has organized a quick response team to intensify disaster risk reduction and management.

While District Engineer Joselito Antonio assured the public that the national roads and bridges in Antique are safe, the response team will still work to restore portions of the road networks with road slip during heavy rainfall.

Antonio added that during calamities, the DPWH also conducts immediate assessment and dispatches teams to undertake repair when needed.

On Feb. 21, the DPWH office in Antique also joined the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill in partnership with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Leoderick Benetiz of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the drill will prepare the public in case of a quake. (PIA/PN)
