DPWH worker nabbed with P748K ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – A maintenance employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Iloilo City District was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Veterans Village, Fort San Pedro, City Proper here around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Arwin Dela Cruz alias “Mansing” was a 53-year-old resident of Poblacion, Carles, Iloilo.

Classified by the police as a high-value suspect, Dela Cruz had been working for the Department of Public Works and Highways – Iloilo City District for almost 27 years.

According to Police Major Rommel Anicete, chief of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6), seized 29 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 110 grams and with a standard drug price of P748,000.

Also recovered were P23,000 in buy-bust money, a cellphone, a black leather wallet, a black sling bag, a backpack, and six small improvised envelops.

The suspect was detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 1 and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
