BACOLOD City – His drinking buddies were accused of hacking and ganging up on a security guard in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Jomel Toding Dulman, 27, of Kabankalan City was wounded on the left armpit and the left face. He was rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital, also in Kabankalan.
One of his alleged attackers – farmer Julwar Gomes Sabanal, 48 – was arrested.
Sabanal was detained at the Kabankalan City police station.
Dulman, Sabanal and four other were binge drinking at around 9 p.m. on April 28 when a heated argument erupted among them and led to a commotion, investigation showed.
Dulman grabbed a bolo from the house of another suspect – Ronilo Caldino, 50 – but Sabanal grappled with and disarmed him, and hacked him repeatedly, said the police.
Caldino and three other suspects – Joshua Lozada Sabanal, 23, Albert Gomes Sabanal, 29, and Ronald Gomes Sabanal, 33 – fled after the incident and remained at large as of this writing./PN
