ILOILO City – A driver of a minibus plying the Ungka-Jaro-CPU route was arrested after he angrily crumpled and threw away a temporary operator’s permit (TOP) issued to him by a traffic enforcer from the Iloilo City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO).
Jesus Rey Palado was flagged down for picking up passengers in a no loading area along E. Lopez Street in Jaro district yesterday, October 10. Traffic enforcers Louie Batisla-ong and Irish Lopez issued him a citation ticket.
But instead of complying, Palado allegedly reacted aggressively, destroying the TOP on the spot. His actions led to a citizen’s arrest initiated by Batisla-ong with the assistance of Lopez.
The driver is now under police custody, facing charges of disobedience to lawful order, unjust vexation and oral defamation./PN
