Driver nabbed over ‘ending’

ILOILO City – Police arrested a tricycle driver allegedly engaged in illegal gambling.

Diomark Retolo yielded paraphernalia for the illegal numbers game “ending,” a police report showed.

Officers caught the suspect in an anti-illegal gambling operation at around 10:40 a.m. on Sunday at the municipal public market of Pandan, Antique in Barangay Centro Norte.

The Pandan police took the 36-year-old resident of Purok 3, Barangay Zaldivar, Pandan in custody.

Items seized from the suspect included a black ball pen, seven pieces of ending receipt with numbers, two pieces of ending cards with numbers, and P250 cash.

Another illegal gambling suspect has been arrested on Monday in Barangay San Esteban, Pilar, Capiz.

The 40-year-old villager Hagibis Bacusa has been charged with violation of Republic Act 9287, the law increasing penalties for illegal numbers games, a police report showed.

The Pilar police served Bacusa with a warrant of arrest at around 9 a.m. and detained him at their station.

The court set the bail bond for the suspect’s temporary liberty at P10,000./PN
