BACOLOD City – The per-kilogram price of rice in Negros Occidental province is likely to go down this month.
Jesus Jimenez, chairperson of the Committee on Staple Food for Negros Occidental, said this in a radio interview yesterday morning.
He cited the recent importation and the harvest season in the province as factors.
The retail price of imported rice is currently at P62 to P63, while local rice sold in various markets all over the province is at P52 to P55.
According to Jimenez, it is possible that the price per kilogram of imported rice may decrease by P2 when imports arrive, and local rice could potentially decrease to P45 to P50 per kilogram. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
