BORACAY – Police arrested a suspected drug peddler in a buy-bust operation in this famed-island resort.

Twenty-seven sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P35,000 were recovered from 31-year-old Carlito Fernando Jr., police said.

Fernando – resident of Tablas Island, Romblon – was nabbed after he allegedly sold illegal drugs to an undercover cop for P5,200 in Sitio Lugutan, Barangay Manoc-Manoc late night on Thursday.

The suspect admitted using prohibited drugs before he was apprehended by the joint forces of the Malay municipal police station-Drug Enforcement Unit, 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Company and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Aklan.

Mga anim na araw pa lang akong nag-engaged sa illegal na droga. Binabagsak din sa akin ang droga. May komisyon akong P200 kada sachet,” Fernando said. 

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
