Drug pusher yields P2 million worth of ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – An alleged bodegero of shabu who was tagged as the suspect in the killing of a Chinese businessman was arrested yesterday, December 2, in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Nonoy, City Proper district.

The 43-year-old alias “Hapon”, a resident of said barangay, was caught by operatives of the Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1) and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6) around 3:35 p.m.

Captain Roque Gimeno III, ICPS1 chief, said it took them almost a year of monitoring the suspect before he was arrested.

Recovered from the suspect were 300 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P2 million and P10,000 in buy-bust money.

“The suspect is a stockman of huge volume of shabu and he was the one distributing the illegal drugs to their buyers. He used his store as a front of their Illegal activity. He was a drug surrenderee,” Gimeno told Panay News.

Hapon was detained. He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Information further revealed that the suspect was previously charged with robbery with homicide.

Police said he was tagged as the suspect in the death of Willy Sy who was first robbed while walking along Iznart Street, City Proper on November 13, 2020.

Hapon’s 14-year-old companion was arrested in a followup operation that time while the former evaded arrest and his case was later dismissed./PN
