Drug pushing suspects fall in buy-bust

ILOILO City – A suspected member of the Prevendido drug group and two companions were arrested in a buy-bust operation of the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) in Barangay Desamparados, Jaro district.

The following were detained at the Jaro police station: Werjun Tanate, 22; Beatles Sanchez, 18; and Ronel Ferrer, 31. All were residents of Barangay Desamparados.

Tanate used to work for drug lord Richard Prevendido who was killed in a shootout with policemen in Barangay Balabago, Jaro on Sept. 1, 2017, according to RDEU chief, Police Captain Marc Dado.

At around 1:45 a.m. on July 3, the suspects sold a big sachet of suspected shabu worth P3,000 to an undercover policeman, said Dado.

Seventeen more sachets of suspected shabu valued at P220,000 were recovered from the men, he added.

“Tanate was the one supplies to street pushers,” said Dado, citing intelligence reports.

He also said the suspect’s supplier was from Muntinlupa.

The three suspects face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
