MANILA – A “drug queen” who allegedly buys and redistributes narcotics seized in government operations has left the country, the police authorities here said.
The drug queen served for “many years” as a barangay chairman and won a fresh mandate in last year’s elections but failed to take her oath of office, according to National Capital Region top cop Major General Guillermo Eleazar.
Her husband was also a former barangay chairman while her sibling and cousin are police officers, he said.
“Ngayon ang balita natin, out of the country [na siya]… Wala man s’ya ngayon e iyong mga galamay niya, ipa-paralyze natin para wala na s’yang magagawa at eventually, magkakaroon din po ng tamang araw para sa kaniya,” Eleazar told radio DZMM on Wednesday.
The Bureau of Immigration said the alleged drug queen, who was identified as Guia Gomez Castro, left the country last Saturday.
“As per travel records, she indeed recently left the country but with no derogatory records, hence she was allowed to depart,” Immigration bureau spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.
Of 16 “ninja policemen” who are allegedly in cahoots with the drug queen, 9 were killed in separate operations and one is detained, said Eleazar. The police is building cases against 6 of her other cohorts, including 2 retired policemen, 2 who were dismissed from service and 2 other who went on absence without leave, he added.
“Safeguards” were also put in place to prevent the recycling of busted drugs, Eleazar said.
For example, drug sweeps can only be done by the Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit, whose members undergo vetting after getting the recommendation of unit commanders, who can then be removed from their posts with just one offense of a subordinate, he said. (With ABS-CBN News/PN)
