‘Drug-selling’ fish vendor back in jail

BACOLOD City – Five plastic packs of suspected shabu were seized from a fish vendor during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 2.

Francisco Mendoza, 52, of the same village was hauled back in jail – ending a six-year freedom that followed an 11-year imprisonment, also for a drug-related offense.

The substance, weighing more or less 1.2 grams, had an estimated market value of P15,000, police said.

Police surveilled Mendoza for a week prior to the operation Friday in Purok Ylac, said Senior Inspector Leo Gestopa, Police Station 2 head.

Mendoza was detained at Police Station 2 and charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect was first arrested in 2001 and released in 2012, said Gestopa./PN
