ILOILO City – In a show of unity in the war against drug trafficking, over 200 illegal drug surrenderers partied with policemen in Dumarao, Capiz during the holidays.
“The simple Christmas party showed to the surrenderers they deserved another chance to change their destructive vice,” said Senior Inspector Amie Bulaquiña, Dumarao police chief.
Also present at the party held at the Dumarao gymnasium were the families of the surrenderers.
With the support of the local government of Dumarao, the police and surrenderers feasted on sumptuous food.
Parlor games were also held and gifts were distributed.
All village chiefs of Dumarao and local government officials attended the party, too.
“The surrenderers really enjoyed celebrating Christmas with their loved ones. It was part of our antidrug campaign to help them forgot their illegal activities,” said Bulaquiña.
The police chief appealed to other drug users and pushers to surrender.
“We are willing to help them change their lives for the better. We seek their cooperation,” said Bulaquiña./PN
