SAN JOSE, Antique ā He was the third drug suspect to be killed in an entrapment operation in Antique this year.
Aldrich āKabongā Encarnacion died of six gunshot wounds on the body after he allegedly fired at the arresting police officers in Barangay Maybato around 8 p.m. on Monday. The officers only fired back at him, they said.
Encarnacion ā a resident of the village who is married to a policewoman ā was the subject of a drug buy-bust operation that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 6, the Antique Police Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, the Antique Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the San Jose police station staged.
Scene of the crime operatives (SOCO) responded to the area after the shootout.
Recovered from Encarnacionās possession were 21 sachets of suspected shabu, a.45-caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with four live bullets, two fired cartridges of the .45-caliber firearm, a slug of a gun of an unknown caliber, two fired cartridges and one live bullet of a .38-caliber gun, P1,000 marked money, P218 cash, identification cards,Ā four disposable lighters, six receipts, a black pouch, and a black wallet, police said.
The suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia will be brought to the Police Regional Office 6 crime laboratory in Iloilo while the other items will be under the custody of SOCO.
SOCO will also conduct a paraffin test on Encarnacionās body.
It can be recalled that drug suspects Johndelbert Monares and Rodney Ortea were also killed in sting operations that the police staged in Antique.
Monares was killed in Barangay Madrangca on Feb. 17 while Ortea, in Barangay Poblacion, Patnongon, Antique on Feb. 23./PN
