ILOILO – Two successful anti-illegal drug operations in Iloilo city and province led to the arrest of two individuals on Wednesday, Jan. 3. An estimated P272,000 worth of suspected shabu was also seized.
At around 6:40 p.m. in Barangay Q. Abeto, Mandurriao district in Iloilo City, tricycle driver “Francisco” was apprehended by Police Station 5 personnel for 20 grams of the illicit substance.
The suspect, a resident of Barangay R. Mapa, Mandurriao, was a former drug surrenderee.
According to Police Captain Val Cambel, Francisco confessed to getting his supply in Jaro district and distributing it in different parts of the city.
Cambel added that the arrested person was with another individual who was able to flee using a motorcycle during the transaction.
Meanwhile, the Tigbauan Municipal Police Station arrested at around 9:17 p.m. a certain “Ronald” after selling a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur in Barangay 2, Poblacion, Tigbauan.
Four pieces of big heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and other non-drug items were confiscated in the possession of the suspect.
The suspect is currently detained and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2023./PN
