ILOILO City – A wayward sport utility vehicle (SUV) crashed against a taxi on Saturday night, Oct. 1, on the Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road) in Mandurriao district.
But the collision did not stop driver Ryan Christopher Biaoco. He continued driving until his SUV – a Mitsubishi Montero Sport – mowed flower pots on the road center island in front of Hotel del Rio in Molo district, police said.
It was in Molo that responding cops chasing Biaoco managed to corner him.
Biaoco was a resident of Barangay Buhang, Jaro district and an employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6, police said.
According to the Iloilo City Police Office, a second taxi was damaged. The Quarry tax that Biaoco’s SUV crashed into inadvertently hit this second taxi it was tailing.
The Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) team chased Biaoco until the driver was caught on Avanceña Street, Molo.
Cops later said Biaoco was reeking with liquor.
Biaoco could not be reached for comment as of this writing./PN
