ILOILO City – It was supposed to be a happy New Year celebration on the beach but the family, relatives and friends of a man from Santa Barbara, Iloilo ended up grieving for losing him.
The 56-year-old Severino Corpos drowned in the waters of Villa Rica beach resort in Barangay Trapiche, Oton town on Sunday afternoon, the first day of 2017.
According to Oton police station’s Police Officer 3 Joey Lauron, Corpos may have had more than enough beer or alcohol in his system but still decided to swim.
Around 1 p.m., Corpos, a resident of Barangay Tagsing, Santa Barbara, could no longer be found by family, relatives and friends.
They later spotted him floating but already lifeless, said Lauron./PN
