DSWD-6: Low vaxx turnout among 4Ps

ILOILO City – A total 62,252 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Western Visayas have been vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of Nov. 9, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) Field Office 6.

Of the figure, 34,939 individuals were fully vaccinated – 11.03 percent of the 316,806 total 4Ps recipients in the region.

The vaccination accomplishment is quite low, according to Belen P. Gebusion, division chief for 4Ps of DWSD-6.

“Very apparent nga may resistance pa sa part sang households,” Gebusion told Panay News.

Others also believe they need not be vaccinated because of they are living in far-flung areas, said Gebusion.

But according to Gebusion, the DSWD-6 and the municipal health offices continue to disseminate information with regards to vaccination.

“Kinahanglan gid nga i-inform sila para maintindihan nila nga wala ginapili ang virus, uma man ukon syudad,” she said.

Gebusion also shared they include topics about vaccination every time they conduct a family development session.

Meanwhile, Gebusion bucked the proposed mandatory vaccination for 4Ps beneficiaries.

“Indi bala na outright nga i-impose naton ang kondisyon para mapuersa lang sila,” said Gebusion.

She said the “no vaccination, no releasing of grant” scheme must have a legal basis prior to implementation./PN
