DSWD-6 readies standby food packs for calamity-affected families

ILOILO City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas has been readying relief goods for those who will be affected by calamities.

Around 23,161 family food packs (FFPs) amounting to P12,851,912 are on standby, said DSWD-6 Disaster Response Management Division information officer Therese Fely A. Legaste in an interview over state-owned Radyo Pilipinas Iloilo.

Of these food packs, around 11,000 were repositioned at the regional warehouse in Oton, Iloilo; around 2,100 at the warehouse in Bacolod City; and some 9,800 in various local government units (LGUs).

The DSWD regional office also has standby non-food items worth P29,104,572.44 and a P5-milion maintaining standby fund.

Earlier, DSWD-6 released a total of P310,880 in assistance to families affected by shear line particularly in Kalibo and New Washington in Aklan and in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

The assistance included family food packs, hygiene and kitchen kits were released to the families.

The LGUs of Malay, Nabas and New Washington also provided assistance amounting to P306,410 to the affected families.
