KALIBO, Aklan – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) extended their “food-for-work” program to 200 community volunteers in this capital town.

DSWD distributed around 3,000 food packs to beneficiaries in 15 Kalibo barangays on June 3.

Municipal social welfare officer Lolly Espino said the beneficiaries voluntarily helped in cleaning their communities for two days last May.
Hindi lang mga miyembro ng 4Ps ang tumulong sa paglinis sa barangay para sa food-for-work assistance ng DSWD,” she noted noted.

Espino said the provision of food assistance to the volunteers was implemented due to rising number of measles in the capital town.

The beneficiaries were from barangays Poblacion, New Buswang, Old Buswang, Bakhaw Sur, Bakhaw Norte, Estancia, Tinigaw, Mobo, Tigayon, Linabuan Norte, Caano, Nalook, Mabilo, Pook and Andagao. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
