ILOILO City – With the aim of improving the ease of doing business in Iloilo City, the National Competitiveness Council (NCC), in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 6 conducted a forum on government e-services.
Bearing the theme “Discover, Develop and Delight,” the said forum held on July 2 at Hotel del Rio was attended by representatives from various local government units (LGUs), business owners and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
According to NCC program officer Marina Saldaña, the forum intends to increase the level of awareness of MSMEs on the various programs and initiatives of the government allowing them to do business transactions easily.
The forum focused on e-services offered by government agencies such as online applications, payments and registrations of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and Pag-IBIG.
Pag-IBIG Vice President for Fund Management Group Reynaldo Malaya noted how important it is for businessmen to be informed about government e-services to be efficient in doing business as well as being globally competitive.
He added that the said services will greatly benefit their members and employers because of the easy and paperless process.
Aside from Malaya, PhilHealth Information Technology Officer Guillermo Razon is also present during the forum as he presented the processes of using their e-service facilities.
NCC is a public-private partnership that aims to increase the global competitiveness rate of the country.
One of the activities they conduct nationwide is the forum on Ease of Doing Business to develop the people through trainings and information dissemination.
Iloilo City is one of the pilot local government units to use online services in processing business permits along with Cagayan De Oro and Batangas./PN
