NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) and the local government of San Carlos City, launched the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay in Barangay Codcod in San Carlos City.
About 30 barangay-based entrepreneurs from Barangay Codcod and 10 members of KAPATIRAN Para sa Progresong Panlipunan, Incorporated, former mass supporters and members of the rebel group Rebolusyonaryong Partido Ng Manggagawa-Pilipinas / Revolutionary Proletarian Army / Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPP-RPA-ABB) from Barangay Bagonbon attended the launching which trained them on basic entrepreneurship.
Engr. Engiemar Tupas, Small Medium Enterprise Development Specialist of DTI-Negros Occidental, said the activity aimed to inform every barangay in the province of the different programs and services of the agency and targets to visit 160 barangays in Negros Occidental.
Tupas advised participants to register their respective business at DTI since it offers programs to small entrepreneurs and also talked to them about the fair trade laws.
Mia Aujero, Negosyo Center-Trade and Industry Development Analyst of DTI-Negros Occidental, informed the participants of the functions of DTI as well as programs and services offered while Mark Jay Barioga, Senior Business Counselor I, DTI-Negros Occidental handled the basic entrepreneurship seminar.
Nelsa Marie Ogatis, OPAPRU Project Development Officer II and Area Coordinator, thanked DTI for bringing the program to Brgy. Codcod as one of the interventions for PAMANA areas.
Raul Morales Jr., PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) Project Facilitator of the City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office (CPDCO) urged participants to cooperate and make good with the projects given to them as other projects for the upland areas are underway.
The PAMANA Program, launched in 2011, aims to provide peace-promoting infrastructure and livelihood projects to residents in remote, conflict-affected areas across the country. (PIA-Negros Occidental/PN)
