THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Saturday clarified what other services will be allowed to be offered by barbershops and salons under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
In a televised, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said services which can be offered by salons and barbershops will be expanded to āhair treatmentsā and āhair-related servicesā only in areas under GCQ.
On Friday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has allowed, in principle, the gradual resumption of other services provided by salons and barbershops.
āāYung mga pedicure, manicure, antayin muna po ang guidelines, bagamat in principle papayagan po āyan. Antayin lang natin ang guidelines ng DTI,ā Roque said.
To recall, the DTI has allowed salons and barbershops to reopen beginning June 7 in GCQ areas, but their services are limited to haircuts.
The Trade chief noted that āāyung manicure, pedicure, massage ang hindi muna natin papayagan [sa GCQ] dahil āyun po ay para sa modified general community quarantine na po.ā
Barbershops and salons are allowed at 30 percent operating capacity in areas under general community quarantine and at 50 percent operating capacity in areas under modified general community quarantine.
Lopez said there will be no changes in the health protocols in the said establishments as part of measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.(GMA News)
