ILOILO – To spend less money and time for New Year celebration’s grocery shopping, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) advises anew consumers to check the price guide issued by the agency.
Items included in the guide are commonly bought media noche products such as ham, fruit cocktail, queso de bola, pasta, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and all-purpose cream.
“May price guide nga ginpagwa for media noche products. Ara pa ina sia gihapon and ginasunod sang aton manufacturers kay ang duration is until December,” said Felisa Judith L. Degala, DTI-6 officer-in-charge assistant regional director.
DTI-6 also suggests that, if possible, consumers canvass ahead of time so they could adjust their budget.
Explained Degala, some retailers have lower prices than those indicated in the price guide due to market competition, and this actually benefits consumers.
She also reminds consumers to check the expiration date and ingredients on product labels to ensure safety, and buy only in quantities that are needed.
“It’s all about our choices. If we have a small budget, ang makaya ta lang. Kon gusto ta gid nga daw bongga ang celebration and if we can afford it, it’s okay, no problem,” Degala said.
She added that the true essence of Christmas and the New Year is spending time with loved ones rather than focusing solely on the feast.
She also encourages those who can to share their blessings especially the less fortunate./PN
