ILOILO City – Due process will be accorded to PO3 Anthony Pandagani who figured in a shooting at a motel here.
If proven guilty of grave misconduct, he will be dismissed from the service, said Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
Pandagani surrendered to Salinas Monday afternoon after hiding for six days.
Pandagani was assigned at the police station of Pavia, Iloilo. But right after the shooting on May 1, he was ordered relieved and reassigned to the IPPO.
Salinas said he ordered Pandagani to explain in writing why he should not be punished.
Pandagani shot 23-year-old security guard Henry Biana at Katrina Lodge in La Paz district.
The shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. while Pandagani, 32, was arguing with his woman companion and the lodge’s cashier over his unpaid bills.
Biana checked what the commotion was about at the cashier’s office. An altercation ensued between him and the policeman.
The cop fired his .45 pistol, hitting the guard on the right arm.
Pandagani, married, was a resident of Brgy. Sambag, Jaro district here. The woman he was with at Katrina Lodge was not his wife.
Grave misconduct is punishable with dismissal from service.
Pandagani also faces a frustrated murder charge./PN
