ILOILO – Police operatives arrested a street-level drug suspect in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sapao, Dumangas town early yesterday morning.
The suspect was identified as fried chicken vendor Melchor Lobaton, 30, and a resident of the town’s Barangay Paloc So-ol.
Joint operatives of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station (MPS), Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Drug Enforcement Group seized five plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing 45 grams and valued at approximately P304,000.
Also recovered were the buy-bust money, and the suspect’s motorcycle, two mobile phones and charger.
The suspect was detained at the Dumangas MPS.
He will face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the PRO-6, praised the anti-drugs operatives for yet another accomplishment.
“Your endeavor and commitment in our campaign against illegal drugs is commendable.
Let’s continue the intensity of our effort, to ensure that our streets are free from the
menace of illegal drugs,” Wanky said./PN
