CAPIZ – Dumarao town’s Mayor Mateo Hachuela is offering a P100,000 reward to whoever could identify the person/s who lobbed a grenade outside his residence over the weekend.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Roxas, Hachuela believed the grenade-throwing was politically motivated.
The grenade exploded but no one was injured. It was lobbed while the town was celebrating its annual religious fiesta.
A safety lever of what was believed to be an M26 grenade was recovered.
Hachuela maintained he had not received death threats that could be linked to the grenade blast.
The authorities were able to secure footage from a closed-circuit television camera. The investigation is ongoing./PN
