ILOILO City – A van crashed against a motorcycle in Barangay Dungon A, Jaro district.
The impact threw the 21-year-old Jane Mar Alcalde off the motorcycle. She died, a police report showed.
Sustaining injuries on the head and body, the resident of San Miguel, Iloilo was pronounced dead at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao.
Her fellow rider – 30-year-old Geoffrey Mariano of Barangay Janipaan, Cabatuan town – sustained cuts and scratches on the body. He was being treated in the same hospital as of this writing.
The incident happened at around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, stated the police report.
Fernando Gargar, 38, of Toboso, Negros Occidental was driving the van owned by San Paolo Ice Plant.
Gargar was detained at the Jaro police station. He faces a charge for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide./PN
