Kevin Durant and three other Brooklyn Nets players in the National Basketball Association (NBA) tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Durant revealed in an interview on March 17.
“Everyone be careful. Take care of yourself and quarantine,” the two-time NBA champion and one-time NBA Most Valuable Player said. “I am fine and not showing any symptoms. We’re going to get through this.”
The Nets, however, did not reveal the names of its three other players who were positive of the virus. One of them showed symptoms while the other two were asymptomatic.
The team added that they are currently notifying the persons who came in contact with the infected players, including their recent opponents. They are working closely with local and state health authorities too.
“All players and members of the Nets travel party are being asked to remain isolated, closely monitor their health and maintain constant communication with team medical staff,” the Nets said.
“The health of our players and staff is the highest priority of the organization and the team is doing everything within its power to ensure that those affected receive the best care possible,” the management added.
Los Angeles Lakers, the last team that the Nets faced prior to the suspension of NBA games, will also be tested for the COVID-19, ESPN said in its report.
