BROOKLYN Nets, minus two of their stars, pulled off a 122-109 triumph over East top seed Philadelphia 76ers in the 2020-2021 National Basketball Association (NBA) Season at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, United Sstates on Thursday night (Friday in the Philippines).
Joe Harris drained six triples and finished the match with 28 points, Caris LeVert flirted with triple-double 22 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Nets rose to a 5-4 win-loss slate.
Jarret Allen doubled-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Jeff Green and Taurean Prince also hit double figures for the Nets with 14 and 13 markers respectively.
The Nets were shorthanded heading into the game with Spencer Dinwiddie out of the season due to ACL tear, Kevin Durant due to coronavirus protocol and Kyrie Irving for personal reasons.
Brooklyn, however, still started strong with 20-8 edge behind LeVert, Prince and Allen. Philadelphia rallied and took a 34-31 edge, but consecutive points from Harris allowed the Nets to regain the lead at 65-51.
The 76ers clawed to within single digit in the third period, but consecutive points from Harris and back-to-back triples by Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot allowed the Nets to widen the lead to 87-70.
Philadelphia made its last push at 93-104, but Brooklyn went for the kill with conversions from Allen, LeVert and Chris Chiozza, 122-106, with over a minute left.
Shake Milton finished the match with 24 points, Joel Embiid added double-double 20 points and 12 rebounds as Tobias Harris tallied 17 markers as the 76ers slumped to 7-2.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Cavaliers leaned on a late rally down the stretch to pull off a 94-90 victory over Memphis Grizzlies at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee, US.
Down 77-83, the Cavaliers got conversions from Andre Drummond and Larry Nance Jr. to tie the score at 88-all. Baskets from Cedi Osman and Isaac Okoro swung the lead for Cleveland for good.
Drummond finished the match with double-double 22 points and 15 rebounds while Nance and Osman added 18 and 16 markers respectively for the Cavaliers (5-4).
