MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte is contemplating at returning to teaching criminal law once his presidential term comes to an end in June 30, 2022.
Duterte recalled in a speech the other night in Davao City that he was lecturing on criminal law before he became mayor.
“I became a lecturer of the – where you trained doon diyan sa [Barangay] Mintal. I stayed there for quite a time from being a prosecutor. I was handling Criminal Law, Criminal Evidence and Criminal Procedure until – until my mayorship days,” Duterte said.
“Kaya sayang but anyway maybe in the — in a few days kung hindi na ako – lalo na kung hindi na ako presidente, about two years from now, I could devote my time lecturing,” the Chief Executive added.
The President also said that he could give policemen a “complete rundown” on what they should learn about criminal law and other procedures in just 30 minutes.
“Ang sinasabi ko lang may guide ka and in 30 minutes, in a very clear and concise language, I can convey to you what Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminal Evidence is,” Duterte said.
“Gusto ko talagang magturo sa inyo. Hindi ko — hindi ako magsabi na pinakabright ako pero ‘pag nakuha mo ‘to, good ka na. ‘Yun na ang guide mo pagka-pulis mo habang buhay, hanggang sa kamatayan,” he added./PN
