MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has provided financial assistance worth P250,000 to the families of the 15 victims killed in a explosion at Davao City’s night market.
Duterte extended similar assistance to those “permanently disabled” by the blast. A P100,000 cash aid was also given to each victim suffering minor injuries.
Seventy-one people were reportedly wounded in the Sept. 2 attack.
“I knew na puputok dito. Iyong bakbakan na sa Jolo alam ko,” said the President during his meeting with the victims of Davao bombing.
The former Davao City mayor again linked the market explosion to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
He also warned the public to expect another explosion.
“If not in Davao then somewhere in Mindanao or maybe in other parts of the country. Because kung ikaw ang rebelde, gusto mong gumawa ng paalaala sa mundo na nandito kami, inaapi-api kami, hanggang ngayon wala kaming nakitang solusyon…,” Duterte said.
Meanwhile, Duterte said he is determined to continue his war against illegal drugs amid the investigations implicating him in the killings of drug suspects.
“I will not stop until the last pusher in the streets or on the streets are fully exterminated. Patayin ko talaga ‘yung mga drug lords. Make no bones about it. I don’t care,” he added./PN
