MANILA – After five days of being out from the public eye, President Rodrigo Duterte headed to Cabadbaran and Butuan cities on Saturday afternoon.
Duterte was scheduled to visit the Agusan del Norte provincial capitol in Cabadbaran upon the invitation of Gov. Angel Amante, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go said.
The President will then proceed to the Air Force Tactical Operations Group headquarters in Butuan to visit soldiers and Air Force personnel. He was also expected to participate in a boodle fight with them.
Duterte has been absent from public engagements since Monday when he skipped the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at the Luneta Park for the 119th Philippine Independence Day celebration.
This raised speculations on his health — Duterte disclosed in various previous speeches the conditions he was feeling — and prompted critics and allies to urge Malacañang to release daily medical bulletins of the President.
On Thursday last week Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella told a news conference Duterte is in good condition and in fact in Malacañang but just resting.
Duterte was last seen publicly on Sunday evening when he met with the wives of the government troops who died in clashes with the Maute group in Marawi City./PN
