Duterte: ‘Huwag kayong kumagat kay Inday Sara’; Ex-Prez Digong denies plan to run for senator

MANILA – Former President Rodrigo Duterte contradicted his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio, regarding a supposed plan to run for a Senate seat next year.

In an interview in Tarlac City on Sunday evening, the former Chief Executive denied the statement of Duterte-Carpio, saying that he does not have a plan to go back to the politics.

Ano ang gagawin namin sa Senate?” he further said.

Duterte-Carpio said early last week that her father and brothers, Davao City mayor Sebastian Duterte and Davao congressman Paolo Duterte, will all run for a Senate seat next year.

The Vice President once again confirmed her declaration in an interview with the media last Saturday, saying that was what her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, told her.

Meanwhile, former President Duterte also said in the same interview that he was surprised with Duterte-Carpio’s resignation from the Cabinet of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“I really don’t know the reason. I don’ t talk to my daughter… Sara has her own mind, we do not talk ganito sa trabaho niya. May distansya kami ni Sara,” Duterte said.

Duterte-Carpio recently stepped down as secretary of Department of Education and as vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict./PN
