MANILA – A coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine infomercial featuring President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo is possible if politics will be set aside, according to the Malacañang on Friday.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque claimed that Robredo was casting doubts on some COVID jabs after she previously said that China’s donated vaccine could be in exchange for the West Philippines Sea.
“Alam ko po sa unang panahon ay kinuwestyon pa nga ni VP Leni ang paggamit ng Chinese vaccines. So parang I cannot see na ie-enderso niya na pare-pareho [ang vaccines],” Roque told DZBB.
“Kung masasabi niya na pantay-pantay ang mga bakuna at isasantabi niya ang politika ay pag-aaralan natin ‘yan, bakit naman hindi,” he said when asked about the possibility of the infomercial.
Robredo’s camp, meanwhile, said the Vice President is open to appearing in the infomercial to encourage the public to get vaccinated.
Robredo is just waiting for someone from the Palace to get in touch with her to make this project happen, according to her spokesperson Atty. Barry Gutierrez.
The infomercial was proposed by Sen. Joel Villanueva to encourage Filipinos to be inoculated against the deadly virus./PN
