MANILA – The presence of his common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña did not stop President Rodrigo Duterte from becoming naughty as he ended his meeting with Filipino community in Japan with kisses to five women.

As he was about to end his two hour long speech on Thursday, Duterte invited five women on stage to kiss him upon the prodding of overseas Filipino workers of “Daddy, kiss, hug.”

“Unang-una dapat wala kang asawa, ha? Pangalawa, hindi ka menor di edad,” Duterte said in response to the Filipino community present.

The first woman was hesitant whether to kiss Duterte on the lips or just on the cheek before choosing the latter and hurriedly went down the stage. The second woman was overwhelmed and had a brief kiss on the cheek with the President.

The third woman had a cheek-to-cheek with Duterte before taking a photo together holding hands. The fourth woman presented her cheek to Duterte, who held on her wrist.

Another woman stood up for a kiss on the cheek. She kept bowing and thanking the President afterwards.

Earlier in his speech, Duterte said beautiful women helped him “get cured” from being “gay,” and added beautiful women were his “weakness.”

It was not the first time the President drew flak for kissing women in public after his lips-to-lips with a Filipina worker during his state visit in South Korea last year. /PN
