Duterte vows justice for Negros ambush victims

BACOLOD City – President Rodrigo Duterte assured Vice Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental to give justice for the death of her brother and nephew.

Garcia-Yulo said the President vowed to secure justice for her family during a closed door meeting yesterday.

On May 3, Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioners Rowena Guanzon and Antonio Kho approved the recommendation of the Western Visayas Regional Joint Security Control Center to place Moises Padilla under “Comelec control” after the vice mayor’s brother,  councilor Michael Garcia and former Association of Barangay Captains president Mark Garcia were killed in an ambush in Barangay Inolingan on April 25.

Duterte was in Moises Padilla late afternoon yesterday to lead a command conference with the Philippine Army and police officials from Western Visayas.

The towns’ law enforcement agencies and military officers are now under Comelec’s full control and supervision./PN
