ILOILO City – The Department of Education (DepEd) is encouraging parents and guardians of incoming Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 7, and Grade 11 learners in public schools across Western Visayas to participate in the early registration for School Year 2025-2026.
The nationwide early registration period began on January 15, and will run until February 15.
According to DepEd Region 6 information officer Hernani Escullar Jr., parents and guardians must visit the school to fill out the Basic Education Enrollment Form. If the learner has a birth certificate, it is advisable to bring it.
In the absence of a birth certificate, a barangay certificate containing the learner’s complete name, birth date, address, parents’ names, and other relevant details will suffice.
“They just need to proceed to the school and fill out the Basic Education Enrollment Form. If they have a birth certificate, that’s good. If not, a barangay certificate with the learner’s details will do,” said Escullar in an interview with Panay News.
The early registration aims to assist DepEd in planning and forecasting for the next school year, particularly in resource allocation for learners.
Meanwhile, learners in other grade levels, such as Grade 2 to Grade 6 and Grade 12, are already considered pre-registered and do not need to undergo early registration.
In previous years, early registration figures in Western Visayas included 360,515 learners for SY 2022-2023, 383,117 learners for SY 2023-2024, and 335,155 learners for SY 2024-2025.
To promote early registration, DepEd expects school heads to post banners, streamers, or other campaign materials within school premises.
Schools are also encouraged to post announcements on their official Facebook pages to disseminate information about the activity./PN
