BACOLOD City – A suspect hacked his cousin dead around 6 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Sitio Tabuan, Barangay San Isidro, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental – allegedly due to land conflict and an old grudge.
Police identified the victim as Raymond Geguiento Gonzales, 27, of Barangay Canlosong in the town.
He sustained multiple hack wounds to the different parts of his body and died on the spot.
EB Magalona police identified the suspect as Leonardo Remano Geguiento, 19, resident.
The victim’s sister, Ray Ann Gonzales, said her brother was talking to Rogelio Jawili in front of his residence, when the suspect arrived and suddenly hacked him several times with a knife. Geguiento immediately fled after the scene.
The victim’s sister disclosed that the suspect held a grudge against Gonzales, rooted on their family’s land conflict.
The victim’s sister reported the incident to police Friday morning, leading to the suspect’s arrest in a hot pursuit operation at Sitio Nakayaw, Barangay Capitan Ramon, Silay City, Negros Occidental around 11:45 a.m. Nov. 30./PN
