LOCAL egg production has improved following the end of El Niño, an industry group said.

Egg Board president Francis Uyehura on Thursday, June 27, said hot weather from February to May had reduced chickens’ feed intake, which resulted in fewer and smaller eggs.

The increase in egg sizes has allowed farmers to sell their produce at slightly higher prices, Uyehura noted.

Ang nararamdaman po nating pagtaas ng presyo ay pagbalik lamang po sa tamang presyuhan galing sa napakakababang presyo noong summer season,” he said.

With egg demand expected to increase in the next months, its supply remains enough, Uyehura said.

“Ongoing po ‘yung pagdadag [ng manok] ng ating farmers in preparation po towards the holidays at the end of this year,” he added. (ABS-CBN News)
