
KALIBO, Aklan – Public utility vehicle (PUV) stops were unveiled in Kalibo town by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in cooperation with the local government to improve mobility and accessibility for commuters.
There are currently six user-friendly and modern PUV stops across the province’s capital town.
Each PUV stop is equipped with solar panels, benches, designated seats for persons with disability, senior citizens, and pregnant women, as well as a charging station and integrated bike repair station, tactile pavers and closed-circuit security cameras.
Transportation Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor led the inauguration ceremonies of the PUV stops in in Kalibo on April 4.
He was joined by Mayor Juris Sucro, Vice Mayor Cynthia Dela Cruz, Sangguniang Bayan member Ronald Marte, and Gov. Jose Enrique Miraflores.
Pastor said PUV stops are aimed to enhance the efficiency and safety of public transportation in line with the mandate of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for safer, accessible and efficient transportation options for every commuter.
Meanwhile, two PUV stops were also opened by DOTr in Barangay Caticlan with Malay mayor Frolibar Bautista in attendance./PN
