MANILA – NxLed Chameleons finally barged into the win column of the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference with a 25-20, 19-25, 25-14, 25-23 victory over Galeries Tower Highrisers at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Ennajie Laure finished with 19 points, built on 14 attacks and five blocks, to go with nine excellent digs and eight excellent receptions as the Chameleons notched their first win in nine games.
“Siyempre sobrang happy lang kami na finally nakuha namin ang first win namin,” Laure said in a post-game interview. “Nilo-look forward lang din lang talaga namin ‘yung next naming gagawin and bawi lang talaga.”
“Hindi rin naman ako nahirapan nung pumasok ako sa team na ito, sobrang warm nung pag-welcome nila sa akin and hindi rin sila mahirap pakisamahan,” added Laure, who recently transferred to the Chameleons from the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Chiara May Permentilla added 14 markers, May Luna contributed 12 markers, while Janel Maraguinot tallied 12 excellent sets to go with two points for the Chameleons, which snapped a 15-game losing skid.
Jhoana Maraguinot top-scored for the Highrisers with 14 points, including 11 attacks, while Grazielle Bombita added 11 markers as they dropped to a similar 1-8 win-loss record.
Meanwhile, Choco Mucho Flying Titans continued their winning ways as they defeated Akari Power Chargers, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-15.
Cherry Rondina finished with 18 points, built on 17 attacks and one block, to go with nine excellent digs to be named Player of the Game as the Flying Titans notched their fourth straight win for a 6-3 win-loss slate.
“Nilaro lang namin ng maayos, hindi kami nawalan ng pag asa sa mga naging lapses namin, nakabawi kami and naging maganda ‘yung pagtatapos ng larong ito,” Rondina said in a post-game interview.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat added 12 markers, including 11 attacks, Deanna Wong tallied 11 excellent sets to go with four points and Toni Rose Ponce had nine excellent digs and nine excellent receptions for Choco Mucho./PN
