THE CIRCUS was in town barnstorming both Iloilo city and province. Of course we’re talking about the 2022 presidential elections, the usual entertainment and livelihood for the natives alongside; beauty contests, cockfights, boxing, and basketball.
Over the weekend Iloilo city and province have been entertained by the two most significant presidential wannabes so we’ll just focus on these two protagonists from opposing “beauty parlors”. And we’re talking about Bongbong Marcos and Leni Robredo.
So Leni Robredo had her rally at the Iloilo Sports Complex. I can only hope and pray that her “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” now dyed pink who trampled the grass on the football pitch did not do some serious damage or worse destroyed the world-class football pitch.
I saw what the production crew of the organizers did to the pitch – digging holes for the metal pegs used to support the towers for sound and light equipment, including the stage.
The production crew was dragging heavy metal boxes across the grass of the pitch, creating ruts effectively killing the expensive grass.
May the Gods of Football rain fire and brimstone on these pink-colored heretics and trample them using football boots with hard ground cleats for the sacrilege they did.
Ilonggo and Barcelona FC football legend Paulino Alcantara must be spinning in his grave at the desecration.
You know on normal days people who go to the Iloilo Sports Complex are not allowed on the football pitch to preserve the grass which are the imported kind, specifically grown for football pitches costing the Iloilo provincial government some P15 million to be at par with FIFA standards.
Indeed an “EJK” of a world-class football pitch in the name of Leni Robredo.
Incidentally at the rally of the other “beauty parlor”, meaning Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte, at the Tamasak Arena in Barotac Nuevo, the football pitch was covered in what looked like plywood sheets to protect the grass on the pitch. I’m quite certain that if Bongbong Marcos used the Iloilo Sports Complex for his rally, he wouldn’t allow the stage to be set up in the middle of the football pitch as what they did at the Tamasak Arena.
Meanwhile a certain female supporter of Leni Robredo threw fliers, hitting Bongbong Marcos in the face while his caravan was passing Talisay City in Negros Occidental and they fancy themselves the disente ones.
So you’re going to vote for Leni Robredo because celebrities like “Vice Ganda” tells you to…ahay and you’re supposed to be a graduate of UP or Ateneo? Critical thinking, indeed.
I saw somebody post on social media and making a big deal of that the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines is supporting Leni Robredo. CBCP 98 active members and 24 honorary members for a total of 122. Wow that’s 122 votes for Leni. I suppose that should narrow down a little bit the lead of Manny Pacquiao in their neck and neck battle for No.3 in the presidential elections.
By the way, there is no Catholic vote, never has been and never will be…so dream on.
Speaking of Catholic votes, it appears El Shaddai founder Mike Velarde just made Archbishop Teodoro Bacani irrelevant.
Leni Robredo says if she becomes president she will increase the pension of indigent senior citizens to P1, 000/month. I’m guessing she’s not aware of House Bill 9459 (which exactly is doing that) already passed in Congress and awaiting Senate bicameral conference to pass it into law. Come to think of it, she can’t even remember the first law she “crafted” when she was a member of Congress.
Moving on…the “magnanakaw”, “son of dictator” and martial law bogey man didn’t work. Bongbong Marcos is light years ahead and beyond the reach of gravity in almost all legitimate presidential surveys. So their main issue now is a reflex move of his arm from danger, I guess they have a problem with basic self -preservation instinct.
I call it clutching at straws as really nothing seems to work. It seems inevitable Bongbong Marcos will be the next president.
The recent statement of the so-called professors of the UP College of Statistics re: presidential survey results smacks of panic and desperation. You see, since Day 1 Bongbong Marcos has been leading these surveys from almost all survey firms, with huge insurmountable leads. Of course it is common knowledge that the folks in UP are rabidly anti-Marcos, do you really think they will come out with a statement like that if Leni Robredo were the one topping the surveys?
