BACOLOD City – Three minors were killed after their elder brother slashed their throats in Sitio Palala, Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Municipal police head Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan said the 21-year-old suspect Junmark Melibo got mad with his siblings for not preparing him food when he got home from work around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Those who were killed were the one-year-old Gregor Melibo, five-year-old Alejandro Melibo and 14-year-old Jhorenz Melibo.

Their nine-year-old sister, Jenny Rose, managed to escape the attack.

At the time, their father was not in their house to attend a meeting. Their mother, on the other hand, was in Manila.

Batusbatusan said Junmark is mentally ill, citing their investigation.

Recovered from the crime scene was a bladed weapon locally called plamingko that Junmark used to kill his siblings, a police report showed.

Junmark tried to escape after the incident, but was arrested around 6 a.m. on Sunday after resident Edilberto Oreta found him hiding in a pit about 60 to 70 meters from their house.

Junmark was detained at the Calatrava police station lockup facility. It was not yet sure if his parents will file charges against him./PN
